I was actually having a conversation with a man named Kos Weaver, who signed me to my first publishing deal at Warner Chappell. Lisa Konicki: вЂњCan you give us a little story behind the song and how that all came about?вЂќД«rantly Gilbert: вЂњFor sure.

You wrote the song with Andrew DeRoberts? Is that how you say the name?вЂќД«rantly Gilbert: вЂњI did. Shane says she was a natural.вЂќД«rantly Gilbert: вЂњIt was awesome. Lisa Konicki: вЂњDid you have to coax her into it or was she willing to go?вЂќД«rantly Gilbert: вЂњShe was entertained by the idea I think at first, and then when we got closer to the time and the director, Shane Drake, actually had some conversations with her, and she figured out we were serious about it, she kind of, вЂAre you sure?вЂ™ But she did wonderful. Lisa Konicki: вЂњWell, sheвЂ™s a good looking woman. My wifeвЂ™s actually making her television debut on the video, so IвЂ™m pretty stoked about that. I think itвЂ™s a breath of fresh air, and itвЂ™s a lot of fun to sing it. ItвЂ™s a party, and it gears me up for that, but itвЂ™s a good timing song, a feel good song, especially at a time when I feel like our countryвЂ™s a little stressed I guess.вЂќД«rantly Gilbert: вЂњTo say the least. For us, we get three of them in a weekend. These days IвЂ™m not quite as wild as I once was, but when I get up on stage-вЂ™The WeekendвЂ™- it gets me ready for the shows, the runs and the tours, because every weekend weвЂ™re showing up, and these people have been waiting on this night for months. Lisa Konicki: вЂњRight out of high school.вЂќД«rantly Gilbert: вЂњI was actually working on some community service hours at a church, and she worked at the church as well, so we met there.вЂќ Lisa Konicki: вЂњWere you guys in high school or how did you meet?вЂќД«rantly Gilbert: вЂњRight out of high school.вЂќ Lisa Konicki: вЂњYou met your wife very young.вЂќ In the beginning, probably thirteen years ago, she probably wouldnвЂ™t have minded it if I fell off the face of the earth.вЂќ I donвЂ™t think weвЂ™ve had anyone in here yet that said they love their mother-in-law, so weвЂ™re going to go with that.вЂќД«rantly Gilbert: вЂњShe loves me, too, and she hasnвЂ™t always loved me. I hear horror stories about most people about their mother-in-law, but I love mine.вЂќ
